Buying Salvage Motorcycles Without a Dealer's License

Finding the bikes of your dreams is the easy part. There are so many salvage motorcycles for sale that will meet your needs. The purchase process takes place in four simple steps:

Registration

The very first step is to create an account with us. It is easy, as we offer our customers a free basic account. With this account, you can search for motorcycles, bid as many times as you wish.

Once you have reached your basic account limitations, you can choose to sign up for our monthly or annual plan. To register, we will need your American or Canadian driver’s license. All international buyers must provide a copy of a valid passport to get started..

It will only cost you $34.95/month if you choose our monthly subscriptions or $189.95/year (50% off the original annual price). If you wish to save more money, just sign up for the annual subscription.

After you find the bike you’ve been waiting to buy and you are ready to make that first bid, you will need to provide your credit card info, so we can charge a $600.00 security deposit. This security deposit will allow our customers to bid on motorcycles up to $6,000.00.. For bikes that cost more than $6,000.00, a security deposit of 10% of the purchase price will be charged instead.

Lastly, after you finish the payment terms and transfer the vehicle you purchased from the yard, you may request us to refund the security deposit to the credit card you used originally.

Search for a Motorcycle

You can find hundreds of different salvage makes for sale at Copart auto auctions, and they are all available to you through us. Whether you choose to have a free or paid subscription, you’re able to search the entire inventory and find the bike - or any vehicle - that fulfills your needs.

If you kind of have an idea of what you’re looking for or are in a hurry, you are welcome to use our Quick Search bar at the top of the page. Just enter the description of the vehicle you need, and you will get results right away. Nevertheless, if you need more thorough results, use our Vehicle Search menu. There, you can filter all the results you need. You can search for the motorcycle for sale you want by:

  • Type
  • Year
  • Make
  • Model
  • Title Type
  • Location

Even better, you can use our Quick Picks feature to find motorcycles much more easily. This conveniently allows you to use the lot number or any other customized search to get the bike you need. After you get the results, click on the description of the motorcycle to see more in-depth details. The motorcycle description page will show you the mileage, damage, and type of title. You’ll be able to also check out multiple pictures captured from different angles, allowing you to see the bike in the best way possible, from the comfort of home. You can see the location of the motorcycle by clicking on “Auction Location”, to get the address and phone number of the yard where the motorcycle is stored.

Inspect the Motorcycle

All the pictures and info provided on the website may seem enough, but you need more if you want to bid on a motorcycle with confidence. The information you get will aid you in choosing the best bike for you. However, it may not tell you the exact condition of the vehicle.

The condition of the motorcycle determines how much you should bid. Salvage Bikes Auction will guide you to pick the best motorcycle, but the bidding process and the bidding prices are left to you, the customer. We strongly advise that you visit the facility where the bike is located and inspect it thoroughly. We can help you find a professional inspector near the facility to help you assess the condition of the bike before you bid for the first time.

Sometimes pictures can be deceiving and play tricks, so visiting the facility may be the only way to make sure whether or not you should bid on the motorcycle and how much you should pay. While at it, make sure you check the extent of the damages and estimate how much it would cost to get it fixed. If the damages are so extensive and pricey, you can always go for the next available bike, since the catalog is extensive, or wait until the motorcycle you really want is back in stock.

This is very important. Please, note that salvage models for sale come “as is” and “where-is” conditions, and it is solely the responsibility of the customer (you) to arrange transportation and repair the motorcycles you buy. We can even help you find suitable transportation, but we need you to find a vehicle that will not be a burden to you. Indeed, you need to be very thorough when you inspect the motorcycle before buying it.

Bid on the Motorcycle

Bidding on a vehicle is pretty easy, as long as you have an account with us. We will give you the login details and a bidder ID to get you started. You can bid on any motorcycle you want at any time. You also have the chance to bid during the preliminary bidding period, or you may enter the live bidding online. Whatever you choose, you have an equal opportunity to walk away with a bike you like as any other person.

Once you enter the auction, you will be competing to win the bidding war with dealers and individual buyers. We suggest that you enter your maximum bid amount so you have a better chance to get what you want without the need to rebid. The auction platform sports a Bid4U feature that bids on your behalf until it reaches the maximum bid price your set. If someone, by any chance, outbids you, you will get an email asking you to bid again on the motorcycle. This also increases your chance of winning the vehicle you desire.

Reminder: you cannot bid on salvage motorcycles for sale in Kansas and California, as these states have not authorized our operations. But don’t worry, there are still 48 other states and all of Canada for you to find a motorcycle that meets your needs.

Before you bid on a bike, make sure you fully understand the rules and regulations on buying a salvage title bike in your state. Also, check the required documentation with your state’s DMV. We will assign the vehicle document to you, the registered member, as well as give you all the documents advertised with the motorcycle at the moment of the sale.

After you win an auction, you have to make sure you know the sale status of the vehicle. If it is selling “on approval” or “on minimum bid”, the seller has until 9 pm PST of the next business day to respond to your offer. In order to see the answer of the seller, open the tab “Open Items” and navigate to “Bid Status”. You can see that the bid may be pending or the seller might have countered the offer. If the seller countered, you can choose to keep your current offer, raise your bid a little, or accept the seller’s price. If you are awarded a vehicle, you will get a notification through your email. Once this email comes, the motorcycle is one step closer to being yours.

Pay and Transport

The customer will pay for the motorcycle’s final sale price plus Copart and Broker fees. This amount must be paid through Inloher Corp’s Bank of America account via direct deposit or wire transfer. Please note that the payments are usually not available until the next business day. Paying using any other methods is not allowed. Paying directly to the seller or to any other party will result in a penalty of $200, which will be charged from your security deposit.

Once you’ve made the payment, email us the details of the deposit, including the amount and bank receipt. In addition, send us your lot number so that we can finalize the purchase process for you and get you the motorcycle. If you use a business account or pay through someone else’s account, you will have to email us their names too.

Note that you only have two business days from the day of the sale to pay for the motorcycle. If you fail to do so, Copart will charge you $50 in late payment fees. Requesting to cancel a purchase for any reason OR failing to pay for the vehicle within seven calendar days (this includes the day of the sale), will forfeit the purchase of your vehicle. Consequently, the vehicle will be re-listed and other people will be able to bid on it. Therefore, you will lose your security deposit and will pay a cancellation fee and a relisting fee.

If you opt for the BUY IT NOW option, you will need to pay for the motorcycle on the same day of the sale. Failure to do so will result in a $50 late payment fee charge.

To finalize the process, we need your electronic signature on the vehicle documents we send you via Adobe Sign and/or a notarized Power of Attorney (for Florida residents). Once the process is complete, we will send the Vehicle Release Authorization to you via email. After that, you can send a transportation company to pick your vehicle from the facility as you CANNOT remove the vehicle yourself. Whoever you send to remove the vehicle needs to have our release authorization first. In order to pick up, Copart requires bidders to schedule an appointment with Copart to arrange the date and time of the vehicle pickup. This must be done by downloading the Copart mobile app and follow the steps to do so.

You have three days to remove your purchased vehicle before it begins to accumulate storage fees. On the fourth (4th) day, a fee of $5 will be due. On the fifth (5th) day, a fee of $5 will be due for Online Bids and $30 will be due for Kiosk or BUY IT NOW purchases, and after that, the buyer will pay $30 daily until the 9th day, at which point a fee of $40 per day will be billed. If you fail to remove the vehicle within 30 days, you will lose it, for it will be considered abandoned and additional disposal fees may be due. After removing the vehicle, it may take up to 45 days to receive your title.
